Yesterday was gym day, and today we start with a new calendar era. From now on, the years to come will be AGD, as in ‘After Gym Day’ and the years that have already passed will be counted as BGD, as in ‘Before Gym Day’.

Today is one of those days when you wished that all stairs where eliminated and escalators was the standard of the world. You wish all chairs was at least 20 centimeters taller, especially the toilet. You wish that the whole surface of the earth was flat and not a single uphil or downhill made it. Omg it hurts. So. So. Bad.

First time in the gym since April, I knew it was going to be hard but I had no idea it would be that hard. It’s just ridicilous. Entering the gym with full confidence, I had a plan and I stuck to it.

Starting of with the bicycle, the goal was 1 kilometer but that was really easy so I decided to run for 2. Also quite easy so I stayed on until 3 kilometers in a comfortable speed and resistance. Legs was a bit sore at the end, but that should do. I mean, it was only 3 kilometers. I’ve done worse. After this I did some stretching and some empty squats to warm up and get ready for the normal routine of StrongLifts 5×5.

I knew that I had to deload a little, so last time was 85-ish kilo and before that I had 97-ish, so I figured 60 would do. Started with the bar, did 5 reps, added 10 kilos and did 5 more. Quite heavy, but ok. Added another 5 kilos, did 5 reps, added 5 more and did 5 reps. And I did like this up to 50 kilos. It was heavy and rough, but there was power and the technique was fine. So let’s fire it of with 60 then! Shit. Two reps in and I realized that I’ve done a horrible misstake. But no turning back, just to suck it up and continue. Failure was not an option. Took the 3 minute waiting between all sets and a while later I was done. And I could barely walk.

Did the over head press after that, 5×5 with very low weights. Did a 10 kilo deload so it was no big deal. Legs still hurting though. A lot.

Grand finale was deadlift, 1×5. I figured, why not just kill myself while I’m here so I didn’t deload, I actually added 5 kilos from last time in April. 100 kilos. Win or loose. I made it, but it was hard. After that I could go home. If I just knew how to walk again.
